SINGAPORE – A magical world of golden tickets, chocolate rivers, and Oompa Loompas is coming to Singapore! The hit musical Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, based on Roald Dahl’s beloved 1964 novel, will premiere at the Sands Theatre at Marina Bay Sands in May 2026 — its first-ever stop in South-east Asia.

Presented by Base Entertainment Asia, the production will feature memorable songs from the 1971 film adaptation, including:

  • “Pure Imagination”

  • “The Candy Man”

  • “I’ve Got A Golden Ticket”

In addition, audiences will be treated to original music by Grammy and Tony Award-winning composers Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman.

🎟️ Ticket Information:

  • Pre-sale: Sept 18 (10am) – Sept 20 (10am)

  • Public sale: Begins Sept 20 at noon

  • Waitlist link: str.sg/79j9

  • Ticket prices: To be announced

✨ What to Expect:

Producers Simone Genatt and Marc Routh of Broadway International Group and Broadway Asia promise special effects inspired by the whimsical inventions and magical moments of the original story.

“Audiences can expect a spectacular visual treat that captures the wonder of Roald Dahl’s world,” they said in a joint statement.

The show follows Charlie Bucket, a humble boy who wins a golden ticket and enters the fantastical chocolate factory of the eccentric Willy Wonka. Along the way, he encounters nut-sorting squirrels, chocolate waterfalls, and lessons about humility, greed, and kindness.

🏆 Global Success

The Broadway version premiered in 2017 and ran for over 300 performances, followed by a four-year North American tour. The musical also enjoyed a successful run in London’s West End, where it won two Olivier Awards for:

  • Best Costume Design

  • Best Lighting Design

This follows the legacy of several beloved adaptations:

  • 1971’s “Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory” starring Gene Wilder

  • 2005’s “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” directed by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp

  • 2023’s “Wonka”, a musical prequel starring Timothée Chalamet
