Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed announces the new pledge in Washington as leaders discuss peace efforts, reconstruction, and long-term regional stability

Washington, D.C. — The United Arab Emirates has announced an additional US$1.2 billion in support for Gaza during the first meeting of the Board of Peace, held in Washington under the chairmanship and invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump.
The announcement was made by H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE, during his participation in the high-level gathering, which brought together heads of state, senior officials, and international decision-makers.
The meeting focused on activating peace frameworks, advancing reconstruction efforts, and developing sustainable pathways aimed at enhancing long-term stability in the region.
Strengthening Strategic Partnership
Sheikh Abdullah’s participation marked the beginning of a working visit to the United States, underscoring the depth of the strategic partnership between the UAE and the U.S., and both nations’ shared commitment to reinforcing regional security and stability.
In his remarks, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah expressed hope that the beginning of Ramadan would guide global leaders “towards peace, coexistence and living in prosperity with each other.”
He recalled the launch of the Abraham Accords five years ago, initiated by President Trump alongside H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the Prime Minister of Israel, describing it as a milestone for regional cooperation.
Sheikh Abdullah noted that since the outbreak of war following the events of October 7, the UAE has provided nearly US$3 billion in assistance to the Palestinian people in Gaza.
New Commitment Through the Board of Peace
“Today, Mr. President, the UAE announces a further US$1.2 billion for supporting Gaza through the Board of Peace,” Sheikh Abdullah stated, emphasizing collaboration with key international partners and senior U.S. officials.
He also credited President Trump’s leadership for convening regional leaders and advancing diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the conflict.
High-Level Delegation
Accompanying H.H. Sheikh Abdullah at the meeting were:
• Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation
• Yousef Al Otaiba, UAE Ambassador to the United States
The UAE’s latest pledge reinforces its position as one of the leading humanitarian contributors to Gaza and signals continued engagement in international efforts to secure peace, reconstruction, and long-term regional stability.
