PARIS – American filmmaker Tim Burton and Italian actress Monica Bellucci have decided to end their relationship, according to a joint statement released on September 19.

The couple shared that their separation is marked by “much respect and deep care for each other.”

Bellucci, 60, publicly confirmed her relationship with Burton, 67, in 2023. She was later cast by Burton in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024), the long-awaited sequel to the cult classic Beetlejuice (1988). In the film, Bellucci portrayed Delores, a Frankenstein-like villain seeking revenge against her ex-husband, played by Michael Keaton.

Bellucci has two daughters aged 21 and 15 from her previous marriage to French actor Vincent Cassel, which lasted 14 years before ending in 2013. Cassel is well-known for his role in the 2002 film Irreversible.

Burton was previously in a 13-year relationship with British actress Helena Bonham Carter, which ended in 2014. The pair share two children: a 21-year-old son and a 17-year-old daughter.
